Car Insurance Lincoln (Car Insurance). How come a train's container cars don't fall off one another? How come a train's container cars don't fall off one another? I've been watching trains for a while now, and realize that most of the time, on flatcars, there is one container right on top of another. How do they make it so the container doesn't fall off? They have a locking mechanism that goes between each car and the flat car on all four corners. On double sack well cars the bottom container just sits in the well and the top one is locked to it.The locks are just a simple cam action device that goes into a square hole on each corner of the container. They interlock together and sheer weight of the container and whats in it also helps keep them planted! Wow, you mean nobody came up with a way to lock them together and also lock them to the rail cars. they are locked with a cranking mechanism Auto parts : Brake Proportioning Valve Depressor Acura 1995 . Lincoln . How to Replace the Fuel Pressure Regulator on a 2000 Subaru OutbackThe Outback is a crossover vehicle that Subaru has manufactured since 1995. For the 2000 model year, the Outback was a trim level for the Legacy and the Impreza models. Both cars feature fuel-injected engines that rely on a fuel pressure regulator to keep the fuel at a constant pressure. Replacement of the fuel pressure regulator is the same for both Outback models. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Rag Adjustable wrench Phillips screwdriverRemoval Step by Step : 1 Lift the the hood and prop it open. Locate the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail near the fuel injectors. The fuel rail is the pipe that supplies fuel to the fuel injectors and the cold start valve. 2 Relieve the fuel system pressure by detaching the fuel pump connector from the fuel pump relay. Start the engine and let it run until it stalls. Crank the engine for at least five seconds to make sure the fuel pressure has been properly relieved. 3 Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. 4 Disconnect the vacuum line from the top of the fuel pressure regulator. 5 Place a rag under the fuel pressure regulator to catch any gasoline that may be in the fuel lines or the regulator. 6 Loosen the fuel line nuts, using a wrench. Loosen the clamp on the fuel hose on the bottom of the fuel pressure regulator and remove the fuel hose. 7 Remove the two screws holding the fuel pressure regulator and gently pull out and up to remove the fuel pressure regulator from the fuel rail. Set the screws aside for reuse. Installation Step by Step : 1 Verify that there's a new O-ring in place on the back of the new fuel pressure regulator. 2 Install the fuel pressure regulator between the fuel lines and over the mounting holes on the mounting plate. Use a wrench to tighten the fuel line nuts. 3 Install the fuel hose on the bottom of the fuel pressure regulator and tighten the clamp. 4 Secure the fuel pressure regulator to the mounting plate with the two screws. 5 Connect the vacuum line to the top of the fuel pressure regulator. 6 Connect the negative cable to the battery. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks. Tips & Warnings Use extreme caution whenever relieving the fuel system pressure. Gasoline under pressure may spray out. Avoid exposing your skin and eyes to gasoline spray. Gasoline and gasoline vapors are highly flammable. Do not smoke when working around gasoline.
Lincoln . How to Install an After-Market Fuel PumpWhen considering installing an after-market fuel pump, care should be taken to make sure it is a direct replacement for the existing pump. Fuel pumps on late model vehicles have a specific volume and pressure, not to mention style of fuel line connectors necessary for a satisfactory installation. If the fuel pump is described as being universal, the wire connectors will need to be replaced as well. Usually the monetary savings are too small to be worthy of the extra effort over a standard replacement. Difficulty:Moderately Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Floor jack Jack stands Hammer Common screwdriver Ratchet Set of sockets Step by Step : 1 Pull the fuel pump fuse out of the fuse box to disable the fuel pump so the fuel lines can be depressurized. Start the engine and allow it to run out of fuel. Place the fuel pump fuse back in the fuse box. Jack up the rear of the vehicle with the floor jack. Place jack stands under the frame and let the vehicle down on the stands. 2 Unplug the fuel pump electrical connector at the back of the tank. Loosen the fuel filler and vent hose clamps using a screwdriver. Place the floor jack under the fuel tank. Remove the two bolts in the support straps using a socket. Lower the fuel tank enough to disconnect the fuel lines on the top of the fuel tank. Disconnect the lines. 3 Lower the fuel tank to the ground and pull it from under the vehicle. Remove the fuel pump lock ring by tapping the ring counterclockwise using the screwdriver and a hammer. Lift the fuel pump out of the fuel tank. Pull the two wires off the pump terminals. Pry the fuel strainer off the pump base using the screwdriver. Unsnap the plastic fuel hose clamps using the screwdriver. Pull the pump out of the fuel hose and the metal fuel pump support frame. 4 Install the new pump by pushing its fuel outlet into the fuel hose, and in the same motion, swing the pump toward the support frame and seat it in the frame. Squeeze the upper hose clamp on the fuel line to tighten. 5 Install the new fuel strainer on the base of the fuel pump making sure to face it in such a manner as it will not interfere with the operation of the fuel level sending unit. Plug the two electrical wires into the pump top terminals. Install the fuel pump into the fuel tank. Push the lock ring down with some force while rotating it clockwise to engage the locking tabs. Continue to rotate it the rest of the way using the screwdriver and hammer to tap it clockwise. 6 Place the fuel tank on the floor jack and lift it up while positioning the fuel filler and vent hose on their respective nozzles. Connect the fuel lines on the top of the fuel tank by pushing them together. Bring the support straps around under the fuel tank, insert the two support bolts and tighten them with a socket. Remove the floor jack. 7 Tighten the two hose clamps on the filler and vent hose with the screwdriver. Plug the fuel pump electrical connector in. Lower the vehicle to the ground. *6. When you're finished working, lower the vehicle to the ground. If you're using a tripod or scissor jack, simply turn the crank in the opposite direction. If you're using a hydraulic jack, use the rod to turn the pressure release valve. The jack will do the rest of the work for you. 2Q Part I: Getting Started. The following steps tell you how: 1. Use a screwdriver or the flat end of a lug wrench (see Figure 2-20 in Chapter 2) to pry off the hubcap. Just insert the point of the tool where the edge of the cap meets the wheel, and apply a little leverage (see Figure 1-3). The cap should pop off. You may have to do this in a couple of places; it's like prying the lid off a can of paint. . Chapter 1: Things Every Driver Should Know O 1 Figure 1-3: You can use a screwdriver to pry a hubcap loose. 2. Lay the cap on its back so that you can put the lug nuts into it to keep them from rolling away and heading for the nearest sewer. Most garages retighten them with a power tool, and unless you've done the job yourself by hand, they're going to be pretty hard to loosen. (Take my advice in Chapter 2 and buy a cross-shaft lug wrench. Figure 2-20 shows what one looks like.) Before you begin, you have to ascertain whether the lug nuts on the wheel you're working on are right-hand threaded or left-hand threaded. This isn't a "left-handed hammer" joke; the threads determine which way you turn the wrench. The lug nuts on the right side of a vehicle are always right-hand threaded, but the nuts on the left side may be left-hand threaded.
